Brother and Sister Walleye

July 31 AM

What a morning with Anita, her brother Troy and boyfriend Austin.  We headed East out of West Harbor into the rising sun. 

We set lines shortly after passing the Lighthouse.

We had their fish and I got to reel mine.  Then they ran the entire program.

This crew did an awesome job running the gear.

Anita had a bonus 27.5 Sheepshead.

Family Walleye

July 30 PM

This afternoon's charter was a first for Caitlyn's son Jamison who loves to fish.  Also along where his grandparents Ron and Josie.

We headed off East of the Islands and we banged a nice Eye right away.  Set the TruTrip 50 50 back into the holder and another nice one took the BADMO LURES big Arrowhead spoon.

We banged 2 more along with several shorts and a handful of white Perch.  By that time the waves we had took our young angler down.  

For the time on the water, we got to real plenty and we know how to prepare for our next outing.

Father Son Walleye

July 30 AM

Beautiful last Saturday of July.

John and son Adam and I headed East into the rising sun.  This was a Adams first Lake Erie Walleye experience.

We set lines running Dipsey 3 setting 50 to 60 back 
TruTrip 50s 50 back

TruTrip 40s 75 back 

Flicker Minnows 100 back 2 oz.

Speed 2.4 mph

FJ 7s were the best today.

By the end of the charter they were masters of setting rods including the dipseys.

Solid morning of catching and releasing after they limited.

Couples Getaway with Walleye

July 23

Joe and Kialey were aboard for their first Lake Erie experience.

Their charter was scheduled for Sunday but the wind and weather looked questionable.

So we agreed to get the Walleye in today before they went to SBI for the night.

To maximize fishing time, we fished close to West Harbor.

Great Times Great Friends Lots of Walleye

July 23

Not sure we would be able to fit in this mornings charter.  We had a few brief sprinkles but all the rain and lightning went around us.

Jeff and Jill brought along Carrie and Frank for today's Walleye fun day.

We had plans to run east, but we made a left turn as the rain and  thunderstorms  appeared to be tracking that direction.  We made a run to the cans and then turned to troll with the waves.

July 15 PM

Ryan brought his 10 year old son out for a quick 2 hour dock to dock Lake Erie Walleye experience.

It was a success we all caught Walleye and a few other species.

Brothers and Son Day Two

July 17

Day 2 with Jay, Zack and Joe.  Another planned Drift Troll Combo.  

We knew we would  need the rain gear today.  A lot of rain did not seem to bother the Eyes.  

It was non stop catching of Eyes west of the Islands today.  Problem was we had release far more than we caught.  Good for our future.

They are heading home with a cooler full of great eating sized Walleye.

Casting harnesses 3/4 oz.  4 count and 16 count seemed to be best.

When trolling Dipsey 3 setting 36 back and TruTrip 50s 26 back with F7s.

Flicker Minnows 80 back unassisted and 2 oz assisted.

Speed 2.4 mph

Brothers and Son Day One

July 16

Joe, Jay and son Zack are in from Northern Illinois for day 1 on Lake Erie.

Unfortunately Jay and Joe's father was unable to make it this time.  Their father Joe was with us in spirit and in our thoughts.  

They opted for a drift troll combo, we started the day casting at spot 1 and only pulled short Eyes.  So we made a big move and it paid off...until the wind completely died.

We had 12 of their fish and decided it was time for the learning portion of trolling with little boards and dipseys.

They did awesome  managing the rods and the fish were active.  We had a lot of 14 to 15 inches that had to go back.

TruTrip 50s 27 back with Yaleye Minnow.

Flicker Minnows 80 back assisted and unassisted.

Speed 2.4 mph.

We started in light drizzle, so no sunrise pic today.

Looking forward to day 2 tomorrow.

3 Brothers after Walleye

July 15

What a beautiful July day. 3 Brothers - Dusty, Paul and Bobby from Indiana ventured out with BlackH2oDog Charters for their first time on Lake Erie.  We had a blast with everyone reeling  until the cooler was filled then they caught and released until their time was up.

Flicker Minnows 30 to 60 back unassisted And 50 to 70 2 oz.

TruTrip 50s with Yaleye Minnow 28 back.

Speed was 2.4 mph.

Birthday Walleye for this Couple

July 8

Melissa got a Lake Erie Walleye charter for Mike who is celebrating his 55th Birthday.

We were going to go out late afternoon 1/2 day but I offer a late morning start so we left the dock around 10am.  Walleye didn't care about the late start. 

They were crushing stickbaits today.

J7s on Dipsey 3 setting 36 back.

TruTrip 50s with Bomber Long As 30 back.

Flicker Minnows 2 oz 65 and 75 back.

TruTrip 40s with Jointed Flicker Shad.

Speed was 2.3 mph

Was very busy and did not get many pics.

July 4th Lake Erie Walleye

July 4th

Nick and Brice are returning again  this time bringing first timer Mason and family friends Christian.

We left the dock early and headed out of West Harbor.   

We set lines and caught 4 but the pace was slow so we stowed gear and ran further East.

TruTrip 40 with BADMO LURES Arrowhead spoons in both large and small sizes, 
Dipsey 3 setting with crawlers early then Bomber long As 60 back 3 setting.

Flicker Minnows 2 oz 100 to 130 back.

This crew of young  men were awesome, setting lines, boxing fish and calling the boards that needed attention.

Couple Getaway Weekend for Walleye

July 3 pm

Joe and Kimmy decided to head to Lake Erie to give Walleye a try.  We fished off the coasters and sent them back to West Virginia with a cooler full of Walleye.
