🇺🇸🎣 **An All-American Afternoon on Lake Erie!** 🎣🇺🇸
After dialing in a productive morning program, we headed back out for a 4-hour Independence Day afternoon charter with Rory and Glenda from Oklahoma along with Josh from Austin, Texas.
With holiday boat traffic a little lighter than I expected for a Saturday holiday, I took a risk and found a spot between the beach and Kelly's Island. We started at the island and worked back towards the beach. It turned out to be beautiful July afternoon. The fish made us work for them, but once we got the spread tuned in, the action stayed steady and the crew got to experience exactly what Lake Erie walleye fishing is all about.
The afternoon's best producers were BADMO LURES small Arrowhead blades on crawler harnesses behind Off Shore Tackle Company planer boards, running 40 to 60 feet back with 2-ounce weights. Silver-backed BADMO Arrowheads Big Fish Tuff Tackle Co. TruTrip 50s 22 to 26 back. Dipsey Divers set 26 to 36 pulling Rapala fire tiger J7s were as 🔥 as the afternoon sunshine.
The combination of good company, summer weather, and Lake Erie walleyes made for a memorable Fourth of July outing. Rory, Glenda, and Josh experienced a little bit of everything Lake Erie has to offer and finished the trip with a nice catch of fresh walleye.
To complete their Lake Erie experience, they also headed home with some local favorite Bayside Provisions breading mix, giving them everything they needed to turn their catch into a fantastic fish fry.
Thank you for spending part of your Independence Day with BlackH2oDog Charters . We appreciate our guests from Oklahoma and Texas choosing Lake Erie to celebrate America's birthday!

Action-packed day from the get-go! Pat and Kathy joined us for a spring morning trip out of East Harbor State Park. We launched early morning with clearing conditions in the afternoon making for perfect walleye weather on Lake Erie. BlackH2oDog Charters had us set up for our Lake Erie Fishing Charters - Walleye Morning Trip.

With our gear rigged and ready, we worked the productive waters using a mix of trolling, jigging, and bottom bouncing techniques. The walleye were cooperative and we made quick work filling the cooler. Lake Erie's structure and depth changes make it ideal for these techniques - the fish stack up in predictable spots when you know where to look. Pat and Kathy did an awesome job working the rods and we wrapped up with limits and smiles all around.

If you're thinking about targeting walleye on Lake Erie, give us a call at BlackH2oDog Charters. Our Lake Erie Walleye Fishing trips accommodate up to 4 anglers and we know the productive areas around East Harbor State Park. Spring through fall, the walleye fishing stays consistent using trolling and jigging methods that produce results. We provide all the gear and know-how - you just bring your fishing license and we'll handle the rest. Lake Erie walleye fishing offers some of the best freshwater action in Ohio, and our morning trips give you the prime bite times when these fish are most active.

Iowa crew checks Walleye off the bucket list on Lake Erie

Jeff and Dennis were back again today for another shot at Lake Erie Walleye. With the predicted 15 to 20 mph winds 🌬🌊 we opted to do a Walleye Perch combo. The perch report is simple nothing going off of the Rattles. So we put the casting harnesses to work in 6 to 20 fow. For a strong 1 plus hours it was non-stop Catfish 3 to 6 pounds. Then the Walleye heated up and they picked away until the had 2 - 2 day limits of Walleye heading back to Iowa.
We were within site of the Ship the entire day.
Great two days sharing Drift and Cast and open water trolling on Lake Erie.

Back-to-back Lake Erie Walleye limits for Jeff and Dennis

One for the books today! I took Rick and their crew out on Lake Erie for a morning of walleye fishing with BlackH2oDog Charters. We set off from East Harbor State Park Marina in Lakeside Marblehead, OH as summer was in full swing. The early morning started off a bit cloudy, but we were treated to clearing skies in the afternoon. The water conditions at East Harbor State Park were prime for a day of fishing.

Once the stage was set, we got down to business, employing a mix of techniques to entice those walleye. We started off trolling, which is always a solid choice for covering water on Lake Erie. As we moved along, we switched things up by casting crankbaits, giving us a more active approach. When those methods didn't produce the results we were hoping for, we tried our hand at drop-shotting, aiming to finesse any fish holding tight to structure. Despite our efforts and the variety of techniques, the walleye proved elusive on this outing. We didn't stick a trophy on this run, but every cast and minute on the water was worth it. We wrapped up the trip with smiles all around, appreciating the time spent on the beautiful waters of Lake Erie.

Father-Son Duo from SoCal Hooks Into Lake Erie Walleye Action

Late Friday evening reach out by Trenton and Kendra who were wrapping up a week at the Lake Erie Islands area. We left West Harbor just before sunrise with a bright full moon in the Western sky. Trenton had the hot hand to start us off casting a 3/4 worm harness with a gold blade on a 10 count. It was about 6 to 1 on fish mostly around 14.5" to get a 16" to 19" keeper.
As the sun climbed in the sky Kendra got hot and they both worked hard to capture their Lake Erie Walleye.
We battled with pesky white perch. We found a really fast retrieve aided in keeping white perch at bay and the Walleye didn't mind.
Seems, I don't get may good pics on casting days. Fish cleaner was at the docks when we arrived, so no fish pics today.

Lake Erie Walleye Success for Trenton and Kendra Before Sunset

Hot bite and happy crew! I had the pleasure of taking David and their crew out on a fantastic afternoon trip with Black H2o Dog Charters in Lakeside Marblehead, OH. As summer settled in, we set out from East Harbor State Park under partly cloudy skies. The morning rain had cleared, leaving us with perfect conditions for our 4-hour Walleye adventure. Launching at 3:00 pm gave us the ideal window to target the evening bite. The water at East Harbor looked promising, and I was eager to put my years of experience on these waters to work for David and their crew. Black H2o Dog Charters always aims to deliver the best experience, and this trip was shaping up to be no exception.

With our gear rigged and ready, we wasted no time getting to the prime spots. I employed a mix of techniques to give us the best shot at success. We started with some trolling, covering water efficiently to locate active fish. As we moved through different areas, we switched it up with some bottom fishing, targeting the structure where walleye often hold. I also had the crew casting crankbaits, a technique that can be deadly effective when the walleye are aggressive. Throughout the afternoon, we worked these methods, adjusting our approach based on the conditions and fish behavior.

While we didn't land any trophies on this outing, the experience was about much more than just the catch. David and their crew got to witness firsthand the beauty of Lake Erie and the surrounding area. The partly cloudy skies provided a stunning backdrop as we fished, and the post-rain freshness in the air added to the day's appeal.
